Operation "First Fishing Trip" is underway this morning, as my brother Kevin has promised my 2-and-a-half year old, Sophia, to take her fishing this morning. We are up, fed, and she is presently taking a bath, since she adamantly refused one last night due to a late nap and a cold that worked its evil on her attitude.
I am on the hunt for viable employment. I haven't had any luck yet with the applications that I have sent so far. I am looking for work in the nonprofit sector and hoping for compensation in the $25k range, despite my skills and work history.
Only a few performances left of The Van Gogh Cafe. While I love working in the theatre, it just doesn't pay enough to make it as a real job. I really enjoy working with Synchronicity, though, and hope to be able to contribute my talents to their performances in the future.

So, driving on the ramp from Pleasantdale Road to I-85 south at spaghetti junction, I scanned the horizon for the Atlanta skyline that (sometimes) graces my commute to work. And it wasn't there! I looked, and then I looked again, and upon my third glance was able to make out the faint specters of Atlanta's titans emerging from the blanket of early-morning smog. The jarring momentary thought that Atlanta had disappeared motivated me not only to blog a bit, but also to do a little research on Atlanta's pollution problem.
And I have learned a few things! The most useful knowledge is that I can earn up to $180.00 in commuter rewards by taking the train to work! So, I have filled out my paperwork and faxed it in and should be receiving my commuter program in the next few weeks. I am going to try to log in as many hours before le bebe is born.
In addition to the personal incentive for commuting, I found some great resources concerning Atlanta's pollution problem. Although, my personal motivation for commuting, besides $180, is the traffic! Believe me, public transit does not not take any time off of your commute, but it does alleviate road rage! I went on a commuting binge earlier this year after moving to Tucker, but abandoned MARTA after my bag with my FULL MARTA card was stolen in August. That set-back, in combination with the physical lag of pregnancy, brought me back to my wicked, solo-commuting ways. I promise to try harder now that I have a little monetary incentive.

I had my 18 week ultrasound today...(drum roll, please)...it's a girl! Total surprise; I thought for sure "it" was a boy because this pregnancy has been challenging---physically and mentally. The last 2 weeks have seen several personal disasters---lost my bag, locked Sophia in the car with my keys, side-swiped the van on the garage wall. Anyway, this child is much different from Sophia, who hammed it up at every ultrasound viewing. Baby girl looks like she just wants those of us in the outside world to leave her alone; she turns her back to the "camera" and is reluctant to give us a good viewing, although we did see the tell-tale markings of a female cub. Guess I am just surrounding myself with little goddesses with much to teach about being their mama.

On a recent camping trip with friends to Lake Conasauga, I lost my life.
Well..not my life really, but it feels like it. I left my bag at a restaurant and said bag contained my personal documentation, telecommunications, etc. And here I am, 11 days later. not fully recovered--although I should have a phone at the very least by the end of the day. And it's a good thing because I have millions of phone calls to make to straighten the rest of the mess out.
On a happier note, I am 17 1/2 weeks pregnant with baby #2. I have a doctor's appointment, the very last one covered by our insurance, on Wednesday and hopefully will glean enough body parts to determine the gender of the bump that would be baby.

JDub and I went to see Order of the Phoenix last night. (Mother-in-law kept Little Miss.) Overall, I was happy with the film, but I am willing to make a few concessions when it comes to translating the story from one medium to the next. A few details bothered me: the new graphics for Sirius' communication in the fire is poor compared to Goblet of Fire; does Harry remember that he has a scar; the scene after Harry kisses Cho is awkward with huge gaps of ??; some of the editing is jerky; way too much cut out of the sojurn to and resultant happenings at the Ministry of Magic. However, (and this part is why I went to see the movie) the final showdown was thrilling and Sirius' death was breathtaking. Looking foward to next weekend...

I just caught up on the peanut butter burrito and realized that I am sucking. I started this blog in order to keep a daily journal of events in my life, while fine tuning my writing skills. And now, a whole month of sweeping changes have landed me in fantastic new places and I have not recorded them for posterity! I will have to do better.
I need a new job. I am sitting at my current place of employment, utterly confused about why I am here and what the f*%#$ I am doing here. I thought being close to the arts and working in Atlanta would be enough, but this is definitely not it! I have my feelers out there for employment: I have applied to several positions on Emory's campus, and I have also posted my resume on Opportunity Knocks, a not for profit job search engine. I definitely want to work in the not for profit sector and have been focusing energy in this direction for the last 2 months, taking classes at the Georgia Center for Nonprofits. I think that I am going to go home and watch The Secret so I can start attracting the things that I need to make my life more fulfilling.

After putting in my obligatory 5 hours service to the Atlanta arts community, I am heading down to the Peace & Love Festival at the Lake Claire Community Land Trust to share this glorious spring day with some of my most influential muses! Jeanne has taken my daughter, Sophia, to the festy and I will join them in the evening hours. I dressed Sophia in tie-die and glitter to put her in the mood, although her nose is a bit runny and she has a bit of a coughy. Only 4 hours, 16 minutes to go!
